Office visits provide a quiet, private setting to evaluate your pet, discuss your concerns, determine what is most important to address and set up a plan. The entire visit is spent directly with the docror, allowing for thoughtful, individualized care without the activity of a traditional veterinary clinic.

House calls bring that care into your pet’s familiar environment. They allow Dr. Davis to observe how your pet moves through daily life and consider the home environment, family system, and other factors that may be influencing their health situation. House calls may be especially helpful for pets with confusing concerns or difficulty traveling.

Integrative In-Office Visits

This appointment is designed for dogs with pain and mobility concerns or chronic, recurring, or complicated health issues—especially when previous treatments have provided only temporary relief, several issues may be connected, or you aren’t sure what deserves attention first.

Rather than applying a standard protocol to an isolated symptom, Dr. Davis reviews your dog’s history, listens to your concerns, performs a physical examination, and considers the animal as a whole. The entire appointment is with the doctor.

Together, you’ll clarify what is happening, what is most important, and where it makes sense to begin.

This may be a good fit if:

  • Your dog has a chronic or recurring problem, such as allergies, digestive issues, pain, mobility changes, or ongoing inflammation.

  • You have tried several things but still don’t have a clear or sustainable plan.

  • Your dog has multiple concerns and you need help understanding how they may be connected.

  • You have many questions and want enough direct time with the veterinarian to discuss them thoughtfully.

  • You want recommendations that take nutrition, medications, supplements, herbs, lifestyle, cost, and your dog’s individual needs into account.

  • You are open to looking beyond short-term symptom relief while still using medication when it is medically appropriate.

Depending on your dog’s needs, the appointment may include:

  • Review of relevant medical records and previous treatments

  • Physical examination by a licensed veterinarian

  • Discussion of nutrition, supplements, medications, environment, and daily routines

  • Identification of immediate priorities and longer-term goals

  • An individualized treatment plan

  • Acupuncture when clinically appropriate

This service is not intended for emergencies or for people seeking only a quick treatment for an isolated symptom. It is for those who want to understand the larger clinical picture and participate in a thoughtful, individualized approach to their dog’s care.

Medication is used when it is the best tool for the situation. For long-term management, the goal is to support the whole animal and reduce unnecessary reliance on medication whenever possible—not to withhold treatment that can improve comfort or quality of life.

Some chronic conditions require follow-up visits, treatment adjustments, or diagnostics through your primary veterinarian or a specialist. Dr. Davis will help you determine the most appropriate next step.

Limited diagnostic testing, outside laboratory fees, medications, supplements, and other recommended products or services are priced separately.

The Santa Fe office is located near St. Francis Drive and St. Michael’s Drive. This location accommodates dogs only. Please contact Dr. Davis to discuss house-call options for cats and other animals.

Answers to common questions about working together.

  • First we carefully work to understand your pet’s situation including medical history, energetic and emotional components and how their health situation has affected you and your family. We determine what’s most important to you and the system (family) as a whole. We’ll talk through what you’re noticing, assess your pet physically if this is an in-person visit, and together we’ll decide on next steps. Care is individualized and guided by what’s most relevant in the moment.

    Most house calls include acupuncture and medical massage but this isn’t always appropriate depending on the situation. Recommendations for how to proceed going forward are clearly discussed. It is helpful. if you are open to it, to include sending records to your regular vet.

  • I often help in situations where a pet is in pain, has a chronic or complex condition, or when their care feels confusing or overwhelming for their family.

    If you’re unsure what to do next, this work is designed to help you get clear and move forward.

  • I don’t offer acupuncture as a stand-alone service as assessment and consulting is an important part of every visit. This way care can be tailored to your pet’s current needs. This practice is much more than acupuncture sessions. Most visits do include acupuncture and massage when appropriate (this depends on your pet’s needs that day). I use massage as part of the diagnosis process as fascia gives a lot of information.

  • In many cases, yes. Oftentimes with aggressive pets a virtual consult is the best first step. We can discuss the situation in depth without having to worry that your pet will become activated. When you can release the pressure of having to manage your pet while you talk to the doctor there is considerably more space for solutions to arise.

  • No. For urgent concerns, please contact your primary veterinarian or a local emergency veterinary hospital. My work is focused on non-emergency, consultative care.

  • Yes. Locations further than 30 minutes from the south Santa Fe library may incur a travel fee. Please email dr.gmdavis@gmail.com to discuss your location.

  • Visit length is usually around an hour. Sessions are designed to allow enough time to fully understand what’s going on and decide on next steps without feeling rushed. We pay attention to not overwhelming you or your pet with information. The priority is on clarity so that you understand what’s being recommended and how to move forward as well as ensuring your questions are addressed.

  • Many pet insurance plans reimburse for my services but coverage depends on your specific plan. We don’t bill insurance directly but do provide an itemized invoice that you can submit for reimbursement. If needed, we can also provide medical records to support your claim.
